Real Turmat

The founder of Real Turmat, Rolf Hansen was as in love with Mrs. Lill as with her cooking. With access to nutritious Northern Norwegian ingredients, Lill cooked the most delicious stews. One early morning, in the lovely aroma from the kitchen, Rolf got the idea that would later spread around the world. Rolf would preserve Lill's dishes to be able to take them on a hike over the mountain. As a food-loving mountain hiker, Rolf faced a challenge. At the time, there was no technology available that would properly reproduce the flavors he experienced in his beloved Lill's stews.

However, the idea of the pots on turn was too good not to get rid of. In 1989, the idea became a reality when Rolf moved into the garage with the pots and stayed there until he developed a new method for freeze drying. Thus, Drytech was born and with Drytech Real Turmat and two popular brands that set the golden edge on so many mountain hikes until today and hopefully for many years to come.

What do Real Turmat's products contain?

Each individual target is manufactured by a skilled team who, through the latest technology, only removes the water from the food in the freeze-drying process. It ensures that you get a tasty meal full of energy and nutrition.

Freeze-dried food

Freeze-dried food, in addition to its low weight, also retains its nutritional content, which all outdoor people appreciate. Nothing warms better than a glass of hot Turmat after a hard day on the mountain. The bags with turmat real are completely tight and can withstand painless handling and have a shelf life of a full seven years.

Under atmospheric pressure, the temperature is lowered to -50 degrees. When the dish is completely frozen, the pressure is lowered even more, causing the ice in the ingredients to evaporate, which is called sublimation. After a few hours, the finished product has lost all liquid and shrunk in size.

The freeze-dried food retains both taste, nutritional content and structure at the same time as all liquid is removed, which means that the weight and volume of a meal becomes very low. All in all, since you only need to add water, it is a popular outdoor product for hikes in forest and land where weight and pack dimensions are important.

How to cook tourmaat?

How to cook a Real Turmat? Easy! Pour water into the galley. While it's boiling, tear off the top of a bag of turmat. Stir something so that the water is absorbed better. When the water boils, you just pour down to the mark and stir well. Leave for about 10-15 minutes and tear off the bag at the bottom mark, so the bag creates a bowl. Then it's just a matter of letting your tour food taste good.
