Winnerwell 304 Stainless Steel
In 1913, Harry Brearley, a scientist and metallurgical surgeon in Sheffield, England, was commissioned to solve the problem of rust infestations in the fire pipes of British cannons. In one test, he alloyed the iron with chromium. This is where the development of stainless steel begins.
Today we know that when iron is alloyed with at least 12% chromium, resistance to rust increases by the chromium reacting with the oxygen of the air and forming a very thin protective coating on the surface of the steel. This membrane is called passive layer and protects against what we call corrosion on a daily basis. If the layer is damaged, a new one is formed by contact with oxygen.
Winnerwell manufactures all its wood burning stoves (with the exception of Fastfold manufactured by Titan) of AISI 304 with approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
For whom do Winnerwell's stoves fit
Winnerwell's stoves are especially suitable for campers who want to deal with cooler weather conditions. A Winnerwell tent stove is quickly assembled and placed in the center of the tent with flue pipes running through the canvas, leaving the heat from the fire in the tent and the smoke outside. Winnerwell's stoves are also suitable for smaller houses, hunting lodges or in open terrain to cook on.
How to assemble a Winnerwell wood burning stove
Assembling a Winnerwell tent stove is quick and easy to do. Step one is to unfold the legs, three or four legs depending on the model. After that, the flue pipes are mounted on each other in length to fit the application. When used in tents, a heat protection is strongly recommended as an accessory where the flue pipe meets the canvas. A heat protection has several layers of material around it and therefore creates several air pockets between the inner flue pipe and the outer one to dramatically lower the tea parameter. When lighting the stove, be sure that both the lower and upper dampers are in full open position. This provides plenty of oxygen supply, which gives a more intense fire that can then be adjusted down, to instead increase both the temperature and burning time of the wood
Winnerwell Accessories
A highly recommended accessory, in addition to the heat protection, is Winnerwell's fireproof mat, which is placed under the stove and protects from igniting sparks when the stove is filled with new wood.
It is also very important, both for performance and safety, to keep the flue pipe free from soot formations. These can strangle the airborne and cause the stove to perform worse or, in the worst case, ignite as the soot formations can contain very flammable tar, which in turn can lead to chimney blasting. Therefore, we recommend Winnerwell's flue pipe brush as an obvious accessory.
