Water

Each person needs at least three liters of water per day. You need water for cooking, hygiene and not least drinking water. When the electricity goes down, it's all about hours to prepare for. You need to be able to clean water if you don't have access to water you can rely on. Cleaning water can be done by boiling, chemically dissolve harmful substances and above all filter the water. Sometimes a combination of filtration and boiling or chemicals can be the best way. You may also need a way to transport water, or store the cleaned water.

Heat

The emergency kit should contain some way to create heat, preferably combined with the ability to cook food and boil water. Here are the options many. Tea lights, gas stoves, gas stoves and spirit stoves are to mention a few. However, it is important to keep in mind that good ventilation is provided when using living flames.

Kitchenware

In case of a longer power failure, you need an alternative to the stove. An outdoor kitchen, or storm kitchen is an excellent replacement that you can also get a lot of pleasure from through cooking outdoors. Outdoor kitchens can roughly be counted into three categories, according to fuel. There are kitchens powered by liquid fuel such as Tenol, gas stoves and those that use sticks and twigs. For emergency preparedness at home, we advocate liquid fuel and above all gas that is easy to control. Important to keep in mind when using living flames is caution and good ventilation.

Crisis information - Don't miss important news

In the event of a social crisis, it is very important to be able to receive information from the authorities. A power outage may result in the media you use to reach news, no longer working. When telephone, TV and internet are no longer available due to a power failure, radio is the best way to get information. Then it may be good to have a radio powered by alternative power sources such as battery, crank or solar cells.

Energy

In the event of a short-term power failure, little energy saved for the most essential equipment can be convenient. In the event of a longer power failure, the ability to create and store energy can make a big difference in quality. Here you can choose from a small power bank to charge your phone to a larger battery backup that is capable of powering the fridge and freezer.

Light

In the event of a power failure, an alternative light source is of course needed. Optimally is a rechargeable light source that does not require external batteries. It can also be good, during the colder months of the year, to use a light source that also generates heat.

Hygiene

Without the comforts of everyday life, hygiene can suffer and quickly pose a health risk. You need an alternative to a flushing toilet and a striating shower head. Sanitary bags and, for example, wipes therefore have an obvious place in the emergency kit.

First aid

When the crisis is a fact and the emergency rooms are overflowing, it can be good to be able to deal with minor injuries yourself. Anything from minor cuts and minor fractures can be treated through the contents of a well-provided first aid kit. Having a first aid kit in the emergency kit is therefore great, but be sure to supplement with any medications you are depending on.

Food

Sure, you can survive for a long time without food, but the body's functions deteriorate quickly without it. Canned food can be a way to cope with a time without access to grocery stores. However, canned foods usually have a fairly short shelf life and if your regular diet does not consist of canned food, freeze-dried food with long shelf life is an excellent option. The freeze-dried food also maintains a high nutritional value and is today available as gluten and lactose free for allergy sufferers as well as vegetarian and vegan.
