Vaude
The best stories are those that tell of a great passion. Like VAUDE's history. It begins with the enthusiasm of Albrecht von Dewitz for mountain sports. In the thin mountain air of the Alps, it matures in 1974, a daring idea - he turns his hobby into a profession and founded the company VAUDE, naming it after his initials, v. D.
Vaude today
Vaude is run today by Antje von Dewitz, who is the daughter of the founder of the company, Albrecht von Dewitz. Tettnang is located far down in the southern parts of Germany and from the city you have a fantastic view of the Swiss and the Austrian Alps. These spectacular views became the inspiration for the brand's first product launch in mountaineering. Today, the product range has grown enormously and you can now find clothing & equipment for, among other things, hiking, outdoor life and everyday life.
Vaude and the environment
Since the beginning, an environmental commitment has been high on Vaude's agenda, but since the daughter, Antje von Dewitz took over Vaude, the company's commitment to sustainable products has exploded. Vaude are today members of Bluesign, DAV, WWF, FWF. All environmental organizations whose stamp can only be obtained through deep involvement in manufacturing, materials and equal conditions. In 2016, Vaude also signed the Greenpeace Detox Commitment, which means that the entire chain of production is strictly regulated. To say that Vaude is at the forefront of sustainable environmental thinking would be an understatement.
Vaude's products
Today, Vaude is among the leading manufacturers in both clothing and equipment for sports and adventures where the environment is in focus. Most of the material is recycled in energy-efficient processes and is made into new products in energy-neutral factories where the focus is on manufacturing functional and durable products that last for many years, all to reduce the environmental footprint.
Vaude's sleeping bags
Most of Vaude's sleeping bags contain recycled material from shell to core. The down is 100% recycled according to RDS standards and is of the highest quality. The down is recycled and cleaned in an energy-efficient process, which offers a product with the best breathability and warmth at the same time as the weight is reduced to the highest degree. Before the material is used for finished products, it is carefully weighed and adjusted precisely for each individual product. The shell of the sleeping bags consists of a 100% recycled polyester that provides both a low weight and high wear resistance. So whether you choose a Vaude Marwees, Vaude Rotstein, Vaude Sioux or Vaude Meglis, you can be sure that the product is of the highest quality and that it is the best environmental choice.
Vaude's sleeping mat
In their sleeping mats, Vaude uses recycled polyester and your sleeping mat may well have been a drifting fishing net in a previous life. The polyester is collected and cleaned in an energy-efficient process and is recycled as a highly efficient and sustainable material. The recycled polystyrene is what forms the basis of all Vaude sleeping mats. So regardless of whether you choose Vaude Performance, Vaude Hike, Vaude Tour or Vaude Dream, you can be sure that you are getting a sleeping pad of the highest quality, made from an environmentally sustainable material that at the same time rids our oceans of environmentally unfriendly plastics.
Vaude's tent
Vaude's tents are manufactured with a focus on sustainability. Both the very process of recycling materials, manufacturing new products that last longer than others in factories that are energy neutral promise a sustainable product of the highest quality with the absolute smallest environmental footprint. So regardless of whether you choose a Vaude Mark, Vaude Space, Vaude Hogan or Vaude Lizzard, you will get a tent that lasts for many years, meets all the requirements you may have and is the best choice for the environment.
